Today I went for the distance, no dog, no son, just running on my own. It gave me the chance to focus on my stride and pace. I wanted to get a longer run in before the freezing rain or snow comes tomorrow. Can you believe it, this is January!

I'd like to say I ran 10 or 12 Km, but based on my time it was probably only 8 Km. When I first headed out it wasn't raining. You can't tell from this picture, but I am soaking wet. Throughout the run I was doing my best to dash all the puddles and not get sprayed by cars. About 4 Km away from my home, my left foot landed in a puddle causing the right foot to get soaked. I really don't like that feeling, step... squish,,, step....spat....step,,,,squish... By the time I got home my right foot was water logged. The joys of running in the rain.
It was a great run! I am really surprising myself. After this week, I I do need to increase my distance.
Running is a stress buster for me. It gives me the opportunity to think. It clears my head. I love running on the trails, being close to nature. Just listening to nature. Turning off the ishuffle. Numerous times I see wildlife, like deer. My son and I were on the trail this week when a deer decided to prance across our path. It sure takes you back a step, cause they come out of no where. If you enjoy nature and like to hike. Get out and enjoy what's in your community this winter. Dress warm and get out there. Get your heart rate going. There are some awesome trails in the Hamilton area. If you struggle with motivation, Talk to Vicky and perhaps I can give you some motivational/health tips.
